The "New Parents Guide" estimates the cost of disposables at $50 - $80 per month.  They estimate the cost of a cloth diaper service at $50 - $80 per month. 

 

That calculates to $600 - $960 per year.  Cloth diaper wearers tend to potty train a year or so earlier.  This cost savings would be around $600.

The savings in running to the store to purchase disposables is not figured into this calculation for either your time or gas costs.

If you scour the internet you will find all kinds of examples of cost comparisons and even cost calculators.  The bottom line is that the cost is about the same.
